About
Athanatos Christian Ministries is not your average apologetics ministry. Founder and Executive Director Anthony Horvath realized long ago that a full court defense of the Christian faith would require more than intellectual argument. Moreover, the reality is that nonChristians in America more often than not were raised in the Christian Church. ACM has been exploring other causes of disbelief- and belief.
High on the list is the culture that we are all swimming in. ACM does not believe that Christians should make the culture in Christianity’s image just for the sake of doing so, as though if you made it illegal to sin people would stop. There are innumerable souls whose eternal fate is at stake and they won’t be saved by outlawing sin.
Nonetheless, the culture can make it harder or easier to reach those souls. Christians should recognize this practical reality and consider when, why, and how one might interact with that culture. At the same time, there are things within the culture that have intrinsic value that Christians should embrace.
The arts are one example of things that have intrinsic merit and value. They should not be abandoned to the World as though church buildings were the only place Christians could wander around in.
In ACM’s first online conferencea vision was cast for ‘literary’ apologetics, or the defense and promotion of the Christian faith through the arts and the written word in particular.
In our second conference, we will focus on the visual arts, especially film and video. As usual, other creative expressions will be on the table. We will zero in on one of the real points of friction in our culture as far as Christianity goes: marriage, the family, and human life. An apologetic for the Biblical understanding for these things will be offered and we will discuss how to use the arts to advance that apologetic.
We hope that you will join us in our efforts.
